Legal education provides individuals with a comprehensive understanding of the law, including its principles, concepts, and applications. This knowledge can help individuals navigate legal issues in their personal and professional lives.

It also, emphasises the importance of ethics and professional responsibility. Individuals learn about ethical standards and how to uphold them in their professional practice, promoting integrity and accountability.

In all, lawyers play a crucial role in society by upholding justice, protecting rights, promoting equality, resolving disputes, advancing the rule of law, providing legal education, and contributing to economic development.

Their work is essential in ensuring that individuals have access to justice and that legal systems function effectively to uphold the rights and freedoms of all members of society.

During his time as President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Mahama's Administration took steps to address some challenges in the legal education system in Ghana.

His Government worked towards improving the quality of legal education by enhancing the curriculum, resources, and facilities at the Ghana School of Law. Efforts were made to ensure that students received a comprehensive and practical legal education that prepared them for the legal profession.

Furthermore, John Mahama's Administration supported initiatives to promote legal research, advocacy, and professional development among legal practitioners in Ghana. This included providing opportunities for continuing legal education, networking, and collaboration within the legal community.

When voted for in this year's polls, President Mahama's next Government will vigorously reform and expand access to professional legal education and provide opportunities to all qualified LLB holders by granting accreditation to certified law faculties to undertake the professional law qualification course.

He will also review the Legal Profession Act in consultation with stakeholders, and establish a Council for legal education and training, to a credit certified law faculties to run the Professional Law Course subject to the oversight supervision of the Council.

He will also establish a faculty of law in the Northern Region to serve the northern sector.
