NDC 2024 election: Harruna Iddrisu was thrown out ‘disgracefully’ — Koku Anyidoho tells why NDC will lose more votes in Northern Ghana

Koku Anyidoho, Founder and President of the Atta Mills Institute, has raised concerns about the National Democratic Congress (NDC) potentially losing significant votes in one of its traditional strongholds in the upcoming December 7 elections.

In an interview on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, Anyidoho highlighted the dissatisfaction among the Dagomba tribe in the Northern Region with the NDC's treatment of Haruna Iddrisu, the MP for Tamale South Constituency and former Minority Leader.

This discontent, he believes, could lead to voter apathy against the party.

Anyidoho pointed out that the New Patriotic Party (NPP), under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has strategically appointed several lawmakers from the Northern regions to ministerial positions.

This move, he argued, might boost the NPP's votes in the regions.

"As we speak, if you put the three northern regions together—North-East, Northern Region, and then Savanna—where John Mahama and Bawumia come from, the NDC made a mistake in terms of our transition of power (minority). We didn’t manage it well. It seems Haruna was thrown out disgracefully," Anyidoho remarked.

He emphasized that nearly all Dagomba NPP MPs have been elevated to ministerial positions, contrasting this with the perceived mistreatment of Haruna Iddrisu by the NDC.

"The narrative is that, while NDC is disgracing a son of Dagbon (Haruna Iddrisu), NPP is elevating sons of Dagbon, and that will go against the NDC," Anyidoho stated.
