A 10-year-old girl, name placed on ice, was allegedly defiled by her teacher and two male cousins, aged 11 and 13, who reportedly took turns to abuse her, a Nigeria-based Punch Newspaper reports.
The victim’s mother and the mothers of the two boys, per the report, were also arraigned for conspiracy.
The incident, which took place in the Ikotun area of Lagos State, Nigeria, in 2021, was hidden by the two mothers, according to the prosecutor’s account.
The defendants were arraigned before a Magistrate Court on charges of defilement and conspiracy.
The teacher, Taofeek Davies, was said to have raped the victim in his house.
The case was held inside the chamber due to the age of the two boys.
The prosecutor, Thomas Nurudeen, told the court that the two mothers concealed the crime.
The defendants were charged with contravening Sections 137 and 263 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.
The magistrate admitted the two women to bail in the sum of N200,000 each with two responsible sureties.
He remanded the teacher for 30 days, while releasing the two boys to their father with a warning that he must make them available in court.
The case was adjourned till July 7, 2023.
