IGP leaked tape: Akufo-Addo is unconcerned about speculations; his appointments purely based on individual capacity—NPP

Fatimatu Abubakar, Deputy Minister for Information has said the President is confident in the Inspector General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.

She claims rumors the President is planning to remove the IGP are untrue.

Speaking in an interview on TV3 on July 13, she cited an NDC member Martin Amidu who was appointed Special Prosecutor indicating that President Akufo-Addo appoints people based on competence irrespective of one's political affiliation.

“That is why he appointed Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu who was an active member of the NDC, who had been the running mate of the Presidential candidate of the NDC. The president by his actions has shown that he has not been preoccupied with gossip about whose father comes from where and whose mother comes from where and all the speculations and all the hear say.

“None of his appointments has been based on family lines or any form of alliance. It has been based on capacity and has shown time and time again that even if anybody has the position to the appointment of anybody, he works based on the vision of this country and he selects the best hand that he believes can execute this action.

“ If Ghanaians are praising the security forces, their operations, and their security, they should remember to praise President Nana Akufo-Addo who is given them the facility and resources to enhance their operations,” Fatimatu Abubakar stated.
