Family, friends, and colleague actors gathered in Arochukwu, Abia State, on Thursday to bid farewell to Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo.
The late actor's body arrived in his hometown in a convoy. It made a brief stop at the palace of the Eze of Arochukwu before proceeding to his family home for the burial ceremony.
Residents and members of the Nigerian film industry joined a procession through the community, wearing T-shirts bearing Alex Ekubo's image and carrying photographs in his honour.
Among the celebrities present were the late actor's close friends; IK Ogbonna, Ini Edo, Omoni Oboli, and Yomi Casual, who attended the funeral to pay their final respects.
Alex Ekubo passed on May 11, 2026, at Evercare Hospital after battling kidney cancer. He was 40 years old. He is survived by his wife, parents, and siblings.
Before the burial, a Service of Songs was held on June 10, 2026, at The Monarch Event Centre in Lekki, Lagos, to celebrate his life and legacy. A wake was also organised on June 17, 2026, ahead of his burial in Abia State.
The funeral drew a large crowd as family, friends, fans, and colleagues gathered to honour the memory of the late actor.
