Tic Tac appears in Court

“You are so loud, you do not need a Microphone” were the words from Judge Mark McDowell after Tic Tac, the Ghanaian Hip life Superstar, had sworn an oath at the Isle worth Crown Court to give testimony about the life of beleaguered Ghanaian Highlife maestro, Daasebre Gyamena.

Tic Tac, who traveled to the UK on-board a British Airways airline together with Fred Nuamah, one of Daasebre Gyamena's managers, gave a testimony to buttress what the prosecution referred to as “discrepancies” in Daasebre's evidence to the court during his trial. Tic Tac, in a very relaxed mood, told the court that “Daasebre is a good and popular Ghanaian musician whose songs talks about love and how to make it in life the positive way. He revealed to the court that his relationship with Daasebre dates back to the late 90's when he collaborated with the maestro to do a song entitled “KKBK”.

After showing a copy of the music album that features “KKBK”, as evidence to the court, Tic Tac told the court that Daasebre who was a celebrity, back in Ghana, composed songs that preached unity but not how to cheat people.

“Tic Tac's appearance was extremely crucial for Daasebre, but if the High-lifer had been convicted after the verdict, Tic Tac's hard earned image, reputation and credibility could have been blurred”, an expert told reporters after the verdict.

Tic Tac, in an interview with this reporter after the verdict, said “I am grateful to all those who, in diverse ways, helped to help Daasebre out of an allegation that could have marred his reputation and that of Ghanaian musicians in general”. He also called on all Ghanaian musicians to unite regardless of the Genre they define their music as because “whether it's Hip life, Highlife, Poplife,Hip Hop,Ragga, Jazz etc ; we are fighting for one course. Let's always have it in our minds that a friend in need is a friend in deed”.

Daasebre Gyaamena was arrested at the Heathrow Airport in the United Kingdom last July for allegedly importing 100 grammes of Cocaine with a street value of about £100,000 into the United Kingdom. He pleaded not guilty and declined an offer for a bail. After months of a trial and re-trial, Daasebre is now a free man.
