Popular Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has revealed that he used over $2 million of his own money to establish his taxi business, Shaxi, with the goal of creating employment opportunities for Ghanaians.

In a recent live video session with his fans, Shatta Wale opened up about his motivation for starting the commercial transportation business.

“That is why I want to make extra money and support otherwise why should I establish a business," he said.

The 'Melissa' hitmaker noted that with the $2 million capital he invested, he could have spent the money on luxury items for himself instead.

“I could have bought Rolls Royce, Lamborghini," he stated.

However, Shatta Wale expressed that his priority was to create jobs rather than buy luxury cars.

He established Shaxi in 2021 with a fleet of branded taxi cabs available for hire via an app.

So far, the business has employed dozens of drivers who earn an income transporting passengers across Ghana.

For Shatta Wale, this is more meaningful than any car or material good money could buy.
