The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has rejected appeals by World Athletics and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and confirmed that Nigerian hurdler Tobi Amusan did not commit an anti-doping rule violation.

Amusan was facing a potential two-year ban after being charged with three whereabouts failures - which constitute an anti-doping rule violation - within a 12-month period.

However, the World Athletics Disciplinary Tribunal found in August 2023 that she had not violated anti-doping rules and no sanction should be imposed.

Both World Athletics and WADA appealed that decision to CAS.

However, in its ruling on Friday, June 28, the CAS panel "unanimously acknowledged that the Athlete committed two filing failures but did not confirm the existence of a missed test, alleged by WA and WADA, which would have been the third Whereabouts Failure committed within a 12-month period."

A statement on the ruling further read, "Accordingly, the CAS Panel concluded that the Athlete did not commit an ADRV and that the Challenged Decision should be confirmed."

The ruling is a major relief for Amusan and paves the way for her to compete in the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris.
