Former Health Minister and former Ledzokuku MP, Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye, has pledged to adopt a data-driven and strategic approach to rebuild the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Greater Accra Region if elected Regional Chairman.
The Greater Accra Regional Chairman hopeful says the party needs unifying leadership capable of addressing internal challenges and reversing its recent electoral decline in the region.
Speaking on Accra-based Asempa FM's Ekosiisen programme on Thursday, June 18, Dr. Okoe-Boye said his leadership would focus on unity and evidence-based decision-making.
"We need leadership that is fair and capable of uniting all tribes. I will take a scientific approach to addressing issues and work to restore our former glory, just as we had in 2016," he said.
The former lawmaker previously explained that his decision to contest the regional chairmanship stems from his belief that Greater Accra remains central to the NPP's prospects of returning to power.
He has argued that no political party can realistically win national elections without performing strongly in the region, which has one of the largest voter populations in the country.
Dr. Okoe-Boye has also pointed to the party's declining parliamentary representation in Greater Accra as evidence of the need for urgent restructuring.
According to him, the NPP won 21 parliamentary seats in the region in the 2016 elections but currently holds only five out of the 34 seats, with the National Democratic Congress controlling the remainder.
His campaign is anchored on a "Greater Accra Restoration" agenda, which seeks to rebuild party unity, strengthen grassroots structures and improve the NPP's electoral performance in the region ahead of the 2028 polls.
