Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Hon. Naana Eyiah last Saturday donated modern science equipment valued over Ghc90,000 to Gomoa Jukwa SDA Senior High School to enhance effective teaching and learning.

The donation of the equipment was to equip the school's Science Laboratory.

Presenting the items, Hon. Naana Eyiah lauded she said "The NPP Government led by His Excellency Nana Adoo Dankwa Akufo Adoo and his Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Muhamudu Bawumia is committed to quality education hence the introduction of the Free SHS policy.

"This school which is barely two years old has benefited numerous assistance from Central Government, myself and the Gomoa Central District Assembly led by its DCE, Hon. Benjamin Kojo Otoo.

"We will continue to give the necessary support for the school to produce the needed manpower resources towards the growth and development of the country."

The Gomoa Central Member of Parliament who doubles as the Deputy Minister for Interior tasked authorities of the school to take proper care of the equipment to last longer.

She encouraged the students to stick to their books, learn hard and obtain better grades to climb higher.

" Your school is rated among the most disciplined educational institutions in the country and and and highly proud of you, continue to be disciplined while taking your course seriously. We expect nothing but good grades after WASSEC.

"I don't promise, but will do everything within my power to ensure that Gomoa Jukwa SDA SHS becomes one of the Best Senior High Schools in terms of academic standard, not only in Central Region but Ghana as a whole," he stated.

The Headmaster of Gomoa Jukwa SDA Senior High School, Mr. Barry White who received the equipment was full of praises.

According to him, the Science Department of the school was using outmoded apparatus - lacking modern methods of teaching and learning when it comes to science experiments.

He noted that the population of the school keeps increasing on a daily basis thus putting pressure on the few classrooms and facilities available.

Touching on problems facing Gomoa Jukwa SDA Senior High School, Mr. Barry White noted that the school needs a school bus to convey the students to take part in activities outside the classroom.

"We have 1,930 students in the school and one can imagine how these students could be transported to take part in inter-school activities like games, quizzes and other competitions.

"The school had to use few resources to carry them to and from at a high cost. A school bus will relieve the stress on admission.

"Again, we lack enough classrooms and I want to appeal to our workaholic Member of Parliament, Hon. Naana Eyiah and the Gomoa Central District Assembly to come and support us completed our uncompleted 27-classroom block which has been abandoned over the years to ease congestion and the enhance effective teaching and learning.

"As SDA Mission institution, discipline is our hallmark and want to appeal to cooperate bodies, NGOs, philanthropists and groups to come over to support us. Government is doing its best but like Oliver Twist, we ask for more support in whatever capacity to keep the school running and to produce students who would contribute their quota towards the development of Mother Ghana," he emphasised.
