Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the General Secretary of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has praised the 2001-2009 NPP government led by John Agyekum Kufuor.

In an interview with Accra-based Channel One TV on Wednesday, June 27, he said Kufuor's government was far better than the current NPP government.

“I think, the Kufuor NPP, in opposition, we basically said that they were really not a very good government. But if you compare Kufuor’s government with the current one that we have, this alteration of NPP is the worst in my view, that we have ever had. It’s also the most desperate," Fifi Kwetey stated.

He argued the NPP under Akufo-Addo has misgoverned the most and deeply disappointed Ghanaians.

“Because it is the most desperate, we anticipate that we do have to expect the worst coming from them," the former minister said.

However, the former NDC Propaganda Secretary further indicated that Kufuor's NPP, despite being strongly criticised by the NDC for certain unfavourable decisions, was less desperate and incompetent than the current NPP administration.

“What you must appreciate is that in the leadership of the NPP, we have today, the levels of desperation that we see in them, we never saw that in President Kufuor. I was leading the NDC’s communication back in time when former President Kufuor was in power," he told Bernard Avle, the host.
