Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has expressed confidence ahead of the Black Stars' crucial World Cup encounter with England on Tuesday in Boston, insisting his side is well prepared to face one of football's traditional powerhouses.
The Black Stars head into the Group L showdown in high spirits following their victory over Panama in their opening match, a result that has boosted belief within the camp as they seek a place in the Round of 32.
Speaking ahead of the fixture, Queiroz acknowledged England's quality and experience but stressed that Ghana has developed a clear strategy to neutralise the threat posed by the Three Lions.
“We know how England play. They have excellent players, they have the experience of the Premier League. They have intensity but we know how we can control this. We know they have three lions but we have 33 million lions”, he said.
The Ghana coach underscored the importance of securing a positive result against England, noting that qualification remains the team's primary objective at the tournament.
Carlos Queiroz believes collecting points at this stage of the competition will be vital to Ghana's hopes of advancing to the knockout rounds.
“We are in this competition for points. It is to get the points in order to qualify. That is the most important thing for us,” he continued.
A victory for the Black Stars would significantly strengthen their chances of progressing from the group and move them a step closer to achieving their World Cup ambitions.
