Ampem Darkoa Ladies FC on Thursday visited President Akufo Addo ahead of the 2023 CAF Women's Champions League.
The Women's Premier League champions will represent the country in the Champions League after winning the WAFU Zone B Championship.
Upon their visit, Ampem Darkoa were given an amount of Ghc500,000 as financial support by President Akufo Addo ahead of the tournament.
Ampem Darkoa took to their official social media platforms to thank the President:
"We had the rare privilege of visiting the First Gentleman of the Land @NAkufoAddo yesterday. Our father shared in our successes, blessed our Champions League campaign with GHc 500,000, and charged us to bring the trophy home. Thank you, Mr President"
Ampem Darkoa Ladies have been drawn in Group B and will face off with Moroccan powerhouse AS FAR, as well as AS Mande and Huracanes from Mali and Equatorial Guinea respectively.
The tournament has been slated to be hosted in Ivory Coast later this year.
The 2023 CAF Women's Champions League will be the 3rd edition of the annual African women's association football club tournament organized by the Confederation of African Football.
The winners of this edition will automatically qualify for the following edition of the tournament.
