The Salis Newspaper has picked up what can worse be described as seemingly unfriendly signals as part of a grand ruse to kick the current Urban Roads Director, Alhaji Abass, out of office.

Sleuth checks conducted by this paper revealed that some groups of greedy road contractors in Ghana are in the scheme of things to rundown the administration of Alhaji Abass to get their favourite fixed at the Urban Roads Department.

This, in the long run, would pave way for them to manipulate affairs and have their way to carry out their stinky furtive deals.

They have succeeded in moving an agenda that Alhaji Abass is a firebrand of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), who played a key role in the 2016 campaign for the former President John Dramani Mahama.

This paper was also reliably informed that the road contractors are doing everything within their powers to win the sympathy of the Minister for Roads & Highways, Kwasi Amoako Atta.

This, when achieved, would then impress upon the Minister to sack Alhaji Abass.

Sources close to the Urban Roads Director described the situation as a very sad one since this is a man, who happens to be very hardworking, without any favouritism or special interest.

“Alhaji Abass is one good man loved by all the political divides and his competence and incorruptibility is making some people in the construction industry uncomfortable so you can imagine why they are so enraged and want him sacked at all cost,” a top source at the urban roads revealed.

According to the source, the road contractors are even planning to hit the streets to stage a big demonstration all with the intent to paint the man black and get him out of the Urban Roads Department.

Recent allegations indicated that since Alhaji Abass was appointed by former President John Mahama, he frustrated any initiative aimed at helping to repair roads in places known to be voting for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“There have been all kinds of dirty schemes against Alhaji Abass. It is not true that prior to the 2016 elections, only roads in NDC strongholds were given upgrades, as the contractors are claiming. It is also not true that Alhaji Abass is frustrating his colleagues and running affairs like a dictator who does not consult anyone.

…It is also not true that former President Mahama circumvented the process at the department and imposed Alhaji Abass upon them due to the departure of one Dr. Darku to the Ministry of Roads & Highways,” the sourced told The Salis.
