World Vision Ghana donates education materials to Kintampo schools

World Vision Ghana has donated over 96,000 copies of assorted books of various titles to some 30,000 pupils from 100 primary schools in the Kintampo South District.

The Christian relief, development and advocacy organization dedicated to working with children, families and communities towards lasting improvements in children's wellbeing made the donation as part of world vision's contribution towards improving education in the district.

Kintampo South District which is the poorest in the Brong Ahafo Region.

Donating the items to the Director of the Ghana Education Service (GES), the District Cluster Manager for World Vision Ghana, Mr. Paul Kofi Twene, emphasised that the donation became necessary because reading among the children in the district is on the low.

"I wish these books and other interventions in the education sector would see to the significant improvement in reading competence of children by next year when we come for monitoring," Mr. Twene added.

He, however, added that the organisation would continue to support initiatives and activities that will contribute to improving reading in particular and education in general in the district.

The District Education Director, Alhaji Yussif Imoru, also thanked World Vision Ghana for the massive support its been giving to the education sector of the Kintampo South district.

He also added that the education directorate appreciates the effort by the group to improve the education standard of pupils in the area.
