I have the experience to lead NPP again as National Chairman – Paul Afoko

National Chairman aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Afoko, has highlighted his previous achievements as he seeks to return to the party's national leadership.

Afoko said his experience in strengthening the party's constituency structures gives him an advantage as he seeks another mandate from NPP delegates.

“During my stewardship, we sought to strengthen the constituencies, and you know it—I did it. Under my tenure, for the first time, this party, every constituency opened their bank account. I made it happen,” he said on Tuesday, August 25, after filing his nomination forms at the NPP headquarters.

Afoko said he would not dwell on his past leadership or engage in an extensive discussion of his previous tenure.

Instead, he said he had reflected on both his successes and challenges and had gained valuable experience from them.

“I have learned from my successes. I have learned from my difficulties. I have learned from my mistakes, and I have therefore got the experience,” he said.

Afoko served as NPP National Chairman before his removal from office in 2016 following a protracted internal dispute with the party's leadership.

According to the National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC), five aspirants purchased nomination forms for the National Chairperson position.

They are Afoko, John Boadu, Boakye Agyarko, Sammy Crabbe and Bernard Antwi Boasiako.

The filing of completed nomination forms began on Sunday, August 23, and will close on Saturday, August 29.

The nominees will subsequently undergo vetting from August 31 to September 3, with the National Chairperson aspirants scheduled to appear before the Vetting Committee on Monday, August 31.
