NDC National Deputy Communications Officer hopeful Joshua Sika Nartey is urging President John Dramani Mahama to appoint Sam Kofi Atta Mills, son of the late President Professor John Evans Atta Mills, into his administration.
Speaking during activities marking the 14th anniversary of the former president’s passing, Nartey said Ghana continues to celebrate Prof Mills’ legacy but has not paid enough attention to the welfare and contribution of his family.
“For 14 years we’ve been laying wreaths and talking about the legacy of Professor Mills, but at this point we should discuss what his progeny has gained from this celebration.”
“He campaigned, sacrificed, and supported the NDC”
Nartey argued that Sam Atta Mills played an active role in the NDC’s campaign and deserved a place in the Mahama administration.
“This is somebody who travelled, campaigned and sold everything he had to support the NDC. We expected him to be part of the Mahama administration, but he’s nowhere to be found.”
He called on government to support families of former national leaders and urged President Mahama to tap into Sam Atta Mills’ expertise.
“We need to empower Sam Kofi Atta Mills so he can contribute to the betterment of this Mahama legacy term.”
“Be patient — everyone will get their turn”
Nartey also appealed to party supporters awaiting appointments to remain patient, expressing confidence that opportunities would eventually come.
