The United States Department of State has revoked the visas of several foreign nationals accused of involvement in fraud schemes targeting American citizens and taxpayer-funded programmes.
The action, announced in a social media post on Monday, June 22, forms part of what the department describes as efforts to protect Americans from financial exploitation and abuse of the US immigration system.
According to the State Department, the individuals involved include persons accused of defrauding investors, falsifying business records and orchestrating healthcare-related scams.
The department said one foreign national, who posed as an investment adviser, allegedly stole millions of dollars from individuals seeking to grow their savings and businesses.
The statement also alleged that another individual used a fake healthcare business to exploit Medicaid systems, billing more than $5 million for non-existent medical services.
"A foreign national claimed to operate a legitimate business helping vulnerable patients access healthcare. Instead, this foreign national helped orchestrate a massive Medicaid scam - billing for over $5 million of fake services. Visa revoked," the statement read in part.
A third case involved a foreign national accused of building a company on false financial claims, deceiving investors and submitting forged documents to secure a US visa.
The State Department said such actions will not be tolerated and reaffirmed its commitment to tightening visa controls to prevent abuse of the system.
"A foreign national built a company on lies - faking revenue and fooling investors. This foreign national swindled millions of dollars from clients, then recycled the same false claims and forged letters to secure a visa. Visa revoked," it stated.
The department added that the measures are part of a broader policy direction under President Donald Trump’s administration aimed at prioritising the safety and financial security of Americans.
It stressed that individuals who exploit citizens, misuse public funds or abuse visa processes will face strict consequences, including denial of entry into the United States.
