GNPC Explorco, the upstream exploration subsidiary of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), has entered into a partnership with the Tamale Technical University (TaTU) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening technical capacity and knowledge transfer.
The agreement is expected to deepen collaboration between industry and academia, with a focus on skills development in Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector.
The MoU sets out a framework for a series of interventions designed to enhance technical competencies among students and professionals in the energy sector.
“The MOU sets the stage for a series of structured interventions, including specialized training workshops, joint research opportunities, and practical exposure initiatives,” a statement issued on Thursday, June 18, read in part.
According to the statement, the partnership is intended to bridge the gap between academic training and industry practice through direct engagement and shared expertise.
It added that the collaboration reflects a commitment to developing a skilled workforce aligned with the demands of the petroleum industry.
“The partnership is uniquely positioned to cultivate local technical talent,” the statement further indicated.
Both institutions are expected to move into the implementation phase, which will include training programmes, research collaboration and industry exposure initiatives aimed at strengthening Ghana’s technical workforce.
