Judicial Service sues Attorney- General, Lands Commission and Frimps Oil over land encroachment opposite American Embassy
LISTEN

Judicial Service of Ghana has initiated legal action against the Attorney- General, Lands Commission, and Frimps Oil Company Limited concerning ongoing developments on a piece of land located opposite the American Embassy in Cantonments, Accra.

In a lawsuit filed at the High Court, the Judicial Service asserts ownership of the land and six bungalows, alleging encroachment by the defendants.

Mandy Dzifa Kwawukume, Solicitor for the Judicial Service, noted in the writ that the land and bungalows recently served as residences for several justices, including Justice Yaw Appau, Justice C. J. Honyenugah, Justice Vida Akoto Bamfo, along with 10 others and a member of the Robin Batu family.

The Judicial Service seeks a declaration from the court that it is the lawful occupant of the land and bungalows opposite the American Embassy, labelled Plot 3A to 3F, with six houses thereon.

Additionally, it requests a ruling that any sale, lease, grant, or disposal of this land and bungalows is unconstitutional and unlawful.

The Judicial Service is also demanding general damages and costs.

Furthermore, it seeks an order of perpetual injunction to prevent the defendants, along with their agents, servants, privies, lessees, grantees, assigns, or any other parties, from entering, undertaking, or attempting to undertake the sale, lease, grant, or disposal of the land and bungalows in question.
