The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) says their presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama has heard the sufferings of Ghanaians during his recent listening tour across the country, and that he will work to address them if given the mandate in the 2024 elections.

In a press statement signed by General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey on Monday, July 1—the country's Republic Day celebrations, the NDC said Mahama engaged with various stakeholders including civil society groups, trade unions, women's groups and professionals to understand their needs and challenges.

"During his Listening Tour, our flagbearer H.E. John Mahama heard the voices of Ghanaians from all walks of life. He has engaged with civil society organizations, unions, women's groups, youth groups, and professionals, understanding their needs and aspirations," Mr. Kwetey stated.

The party indicated that Mahama will soon unveil the NDC's campaign manifesto which will outline specific programs and policies targeting Ghana's economic difficulties and putting the country back on the path of progress.

"In response, the NDC, under Mahama's leadership, will soon launch its retail campaign and manifesto, outlining concrete programs to tackle our economic challenges and put Ghana back on the path of recovery and progress," stressed the General Secretary.

The NDC called on Ghanaians, particularly the youth, women and first time voters to rally behind Mr. Mahama in order to rescue the country from what it says is the failed leadership of President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia.
