We will hold you accountable to your promises - Nkosuahene tells Bawumia
LISTEN

Asanteman Nkosuahene, Nana Kwame Kyeretwie, has assured the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, that all his campaign promises have been meticulously recorded and will be used as a measure of accountability when Ghanaians grant him political power in the 2024 elections.

According to Nana Kyeretwie, it is common practice among politicians to make undeliverable promises just to gain power, only to go against their words once they are elected. He urged the Vice-President not to behave like typical politicians.

He conveyed this message during Dr. Bawumia's courtesy visit to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace on Wednesday, June 12.

"Politicians often make promises and fail to honor them once elected. We have documented all your promises. We have cameramen here who have captured everything, and we will hold you accountable if you win," he stated.

Moreover, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II expressed his confidence in Dr. Bawumia's ability to lead if elected and encouraged Dr. Bawumia to focus on communicating his vision to Ghanaians ahead of the elections and to stay humble as he has known him always.

Speaking through his linguist, the Asantehene noted, "I have known you for a long time. Political power has not changed your humility. Continue to respect and humbly engage with Ghanaians, explaining your plans for the nation. I believe you can deliver if elected."

He further acknowledged President Akufo-Addo's recognition of Dr. Bawumia's potential, which led to his selection as Vice President. "The government has achieved much, and I know you can continue this work. Share your message with Ghanaians," he added.

Dr. Bawumia commenced his Ashanti region tour on Monday, June 9. On Tuesday, June 11, he visited Suame Magazine, where he engaged with traders, artisans, and the youth, receiving widespread support.

Reflecting on the visit, Dr. Bawumia wrote on Facebook, "Tuesday was electrifying as the Ashanti Region's traders, artisans, youth, and residents reaffirmed their belief in my vision for Ghana's future. The region has always been a pillar of strength and diverse opinions. It was inspiring to interact with the community at Suame, the Central Market, Asafo, and Jubilee Park. Indeed, it is possible!"
