The National Democratic Congress (NDC), the largest opposition party in the country, is celebrating 32 years since its formation today, June 10, 2024.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, the party is hosting a Flag Raising Ceremony this Monday morning at its headquarters in Adabraka, Accra. The event is led by the Presidential running mate for the 2024 general elections, Professor Nana Jane Opoku Agyemang, alongside party chairman Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey, and other prominent figures.

In his welcome address, General Secretary Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey urged supporters of the party to cultivate genuine love and commitment towards the NDC. He emphasized the importance of thinking collectively about strengthening the party, noting that the current generation of supporters often prioritizes individual interests over the unity of the NDC. Kwetey called on all Akatamansonia to prioritize the party’s interests and work towards making the NDC a stronger and more united entity.

Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey highlighted the necessity for the party to unite more than ever if they aim to reclaim power from the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He stressed that the NDC must present a cohesive front to successfully challenge the current administration in the upcoming elections.

National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia accused the NPP of using its incumbency to rig the upcoming 2024 general elections. He alleged that the NPP has deployed numerous security personnel in certain constituencies, particularly in Nsoko in the Bono Region, to intimidate the populace.

Nketia stated, "In terms of governance, the National Democratic Congress always comes to clean the mess left by the NPP."

Aseidu Nketia assured Ghanaians that the NDC is prepared to return to power, partner with the masses, and rebuild what has been damaged by the Nana Addo-Bawumia administration. He emphasized the NDC's commitment to addressing the needs of the people and restoring integrity and efficiency to governance.

The ceremony marks an important milestone for the NDC as they reflect on their journey and strategize for the future, with hopes of winning the 2024 general elections and bringing positive change to the nation.
