Joyce Bawa Mogtari, a Special Aide to NDC flagbearer John Mahama, has described the High Court's advice for Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame to recuse himself from the ongoing ambulance procurement trial as unprecedented in Ghana's democratic history.

In a post on X on Thursday, June 6, Mogtari said the court's order for the AG to stay away from the trial marked "the very first time in the annals of our nascent democracy, an Attorney General of Ghana has been directed by court to recuse himself from a trial."

The former deputy transport minister added that the directive must be "causing some serious ripples in the corridors of power."

Joyce Bawa was referring to the court's advice on June 6 urging Godfred Dame to refrain from further involvement in the trial of former Deputy Minister of Finance Cassiel Ato Forson and others to maintain public confidence in the justice system.

In her post, Mogtari questioned whether the AG would "find refuge in the guidance of the judge, having literally crossed the red line."

She stated that Mr. Dame's conduct "should not be tolerated" and that he should "resign honourably."

The NDC stalwart described the AG's actions as "dishonourable" and "deplorable", further expressing shock about how they had brought the “unusually mute” Ghana Bar Association into "utter chaos."
