Kofi Appianin Ennin, an aspiring parliamentary candidate for the Obuasi West constituency, has supported 500 women with interest-free loans through his Appianin-Bonsec soft loan scheme.

The initiative aims to bolster the businesses of the beneficiaries and empower them economically.

At a vibrant ceremony in Obuasi, Mr. Appianin, co-founder of the Appianin-Bonsec Fun Club, presented a total of GH₵500,000.00 (five hundred thousand Ghana Cedis) to 500 women. Each beneficiary received GH₵1,000, to be repaid within five months.

"This is the third time we are giving out such loans to our women. We are doing this to empower the women, who are largely members of our fun club. We are aware of the challenges our women face, and we want to help them contribute significantly at home," said Kofi Appianin Ennin.

He expressed his unwavering commitment to improving the standard of living in Obuasi, especially for women, through the loan scheme. Targeting 5,000 women by the end of the year, Mr. Appianin Ennin pledged continued support for women in small and medium-scale enterprises to help them expand their businesses and become self-sustaining.

He urged the beneficiaries to use the money diligently for its intended purpose to improve their businesses, which would enable them to repay the loan within the stipulated period.

Mr. Appianin Ennin also hinted at launching a skills development training program for the youth in the Obuasi West constituency, aligning with his vision of equipping them with employable skills and reducing unemployment in the area.

"We will organize a skills development program for the youth. Our vision is to provide them with employable skills to reduce the unemployment rate in the constituency," he added.

Beneficiaries who spoke to the media praised Hon. Appianin and the Appianin-Bonsec Fun Club for their support. Madam Akua Afriyie, a widow, mentioned that she had struggled to fund her business since her husband's death and that the loan would significantly boost her operations. Mavis Asante, a resident of New Dokyiwa and club member, said the loan would greatly support their businesses, noting that the flexible repayment conditions would enable them to repay the loan and focus on making profits.
