Former President, John Dramani Mahama has indicated that the next administration of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) with him as president will conduct a thorough investigation into the PDS scandal.

Ghana in March 2019 was set to receive critical funding amounting to approximately $190 million aimed at bolstering the long-term sustainability of infrastructure investments and facilitating the financial recovery of the energy sector under the US Millennium Compact project.

However, the disbursement of funds was halted following complications arising from a failed 20-year concession agreement involving Ghana’s Power Distribution Services (PDS).

This later came to be known as the PDS scandal.

In a statement today, former President John Dramani Mahama has described the loss of $190 million as unacceptable, insisting that Ghanaians deserve better from President Akufo-Addo’s government.

According to the NDC flagbearer, his administration after becoming president “will prioritise accountability and ensure a thorough investigation of the PDS scandal to hold those involved accountable.”

In his statement shared on Facebook, he called on Ghanaians to join him to fight against corruption and cronyism, and work towards building the Ghana everyone wants.
