A former National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joshua Akamba has hinted at measures the party plans to take to ensure security and accountability during the 2024 general elections.

Akamba said the NDC will install security cameras at polling stations to monitor activities and protect voters' rights.

He explained that the cameras will allow any inappropriate conduct by security personnel to be documented to ensure proper investigations and accountability if needed.

“NDC will install secret cameras on trees during the 2024 election day to capture any soldier or police who will fire bullets so that we can arrest those people after the elections,” he said on Kasapa FM.

Mr. Akamba stated that the party was motivated by the violence that occurred during the 2019 Ayawaso West Wougon by-elections.

"With what happened at the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency elections, where they set up a commission, do you think that is a conclusive matter? The guys who were shot are still there,” he noted.

Many were left injured as a result of what the NDC says was a planned move by the ruling NPP to use the military to intimidate people to win the elections.

Ningo-Prampram MP Sam George was assaulted and 18 people were wounded by gunshot.
