Professor Michael Kpessa Whyte, a leading member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed confidence that the party's vice presidential candidate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, will restore integrity and dignity to the office of the vice president if elected.

In a social media post on Friday, March 8, he welcomed Professor Opoku-Agyemang's selection as running mate to NDC flagbearer John Mahama for the 2024 elections.

According to him, the office of the Vice President has currently been soiled by its occupant with lies and deceit.

He wrote: "Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman will be a truth-speaking and honest Vice President of Ghana. She will return dignity, integrity, honesty, modesty, and humility to that high office. These values, which were sacrificed on the altar of deceit and lies will be revived & restored."

Prof. Whyte's comments come after the NDC unveiled Professor Opoku-Agyemang, a former Education Minister and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, as its vice presidential candidate on Thursday.

General Secretary of the party, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, said the renowned academic brings "a wealth of knowledge and experience" that forms a "formidable team" with Mr. Mahama to introduce "a bold and progressive vision" for Ghana.
