THU, 14 DEC 2023 LISTEN

Former President John Dramani Mahama will embark on a two-day 'Building Ghana' tour of the Western region this weekend.

Mr Mahama, who is the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), will use the tour to engage with various constituencies and outline his vision to boost Ghana's economy.

The tour will kick off on Saturday, December 16, in the Ellembelle constituency, where Mahama will interact with market women, transport unions and artisans in communities like Jaway Wharf and Atuabo.

Richard Kirk-Mensah, spokesperson for the NDC's Western Regional Communication Bureau said Mahama will also pay a courtesy call on the Omanhene of the Eastern Nzema Traditional Council at Atuabo.

On the same day, Mahama is billed to meet with students of the Eziama Nursing School in the Evalue Ajomoro Gwira constituency.

He will also hold discussions with paramount chiefs in the area, including the Paramount Chief of Nsein Traditional Council and the Paramount Chief of Lower Axim in Nsein and Axim respectively, according to Kirk-Mensah.

The tour continues on Sunday with a church service in a Catholic Church Apowa, followed by community engagements.

The one-time President will then head to Sekondi-Takoradi for a town hall meeting.

It is at this town hall meeting that Mahama is expected to "throw more light on the much talked about 24-hour economy," Kirk-Mensah stated.

The former president will wrap up the Western Region swing with an interaction with fishing communities in the Shama constituency at Anlo Beach.

The 'Building Ghana' tour aims to promote Mahama's plans to revitalise Ghana's economy, with a focus on the 24-hour model aimed at promoting non-stop business activity if elected in 2024.
