National Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress Sammy Gyamfi has set the record straight.

He disassociates with allegations he described the Supreme Court's ruling on Michael Kpessa Whyte as senseless.

Lecturer at the University of Ghana and member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Prof Michael Kpessa Whyte was cited for contempt and cautioned by the Supreme Court in a tweet he described the apex court's ruling on James Gyakye Quayson as "stupid court."

In a heated argument during an ongoing discussion on Metro TV's Good Morning Ghana show on Thursday 1st June hosted by Randy Abbey in relation to the Assin-North by-election, NPP's Egyapa Mercer accused NDC's Mr Sammy Gyamfi of describing the apex court ruling as senseless.

“Am not one of those that you can blackmail and insight meaning against or cause against me or all that, because I Know what I am saying, I know what is the meaning.

“What is the meaning of travesty of Justice, when lawyers stand on their feet in court, court of appeals challenging decisions of court below and they describe the rulings of the court or decisions of the court as a travesty of Justice, does that amount to bastardization of the court? How can a mere statement that the decision of the court in the Assin North matter has done injustice to EC amount to bastardization of the court? Look at the desperation you are displaying, then now he is saying that I said the decision of the court is senseless. On this platform you are lying, have I used the word senseless."

"I have not said any decision is senseless, those are your words, you know that so don't lie. I said the decision in the Assin North matter doesn't make sense in the light of the rules and the facts, what is wrong with that," Sammy Gyamfi emphasised.
