The National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagba, has commended the his own government for fulfilling its obligations to its citizens amid the economic challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and Russia invasion of Ukraine.

Ahiagba praised the government for being able to pay the salaries of workers despite the financial difficulties it has faced, and urged Ghanaians to continue believing in the NPP government.

In a tweet on Thursday, April 13, Ahiagba stressed that Ghanaians should not be swayed by the propaganda of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to "think otherwise" of the Akufo-Addo-led government.

The NPP’s spokesperson noted that the impact of COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war on the global economy, including Ghana is real, and that the government is doing its best to provide essential public services and pay salaries in these difficult times.

“Ghanaians, we are going through difficulties, but we continue to pay salaries and provide essential public services.

“The impact of Covid-19 and Russia-Ukraine war on the global economy is real. Let's not be deceived by NDC to think otherwise,” his post reads.

Ahiagba's comments come as reports emerge about the Kenyan government struggling to pay salary arrears of its workers due to economic hardships.
