Abronye DC freed of all charges of false publication against Mahama

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC has been acquitted of all charges of publication of false news against former President John Dramani Mahama.

The controversial communications team member of the ruling New Patriotic Party was arrested earlier this year and charged with the publication of false news.

This was after he had alleged that Former President John Dramani Mahama has connived with a terrorist group to stage a coup.

He was invited by the Police to assist with investigations where he was detained and charged with two counts of publication of false news and offensive conduct conducive to breaches of the peace.

He was arraigned before an Accra Circuit Court 8 today, Thursday, July 7, 2022 where Abronye DC was freed.

In court, the Counsel for the accused prayed the court to discharge his client since the prosecution had demonstrated that they had lost appetite in the case against his client.

This was based on the fact that the Prosecution had earlier requested additional time to allow them file their disclosures and replace the lead prosecutor who had enrolled in the Police Training School and hence was unavailable.

Presiding Judge Adeliade Abui Keddy in her ruling noted that the prosecution had failed to comply with all court proceedings and therefore heard the prayer of the counsel of Abronye to discharge his client.
