Leadership is a calling not a means to enrich yourself — NPP's Isaac Bonsu
LISTEN

One of the NPP Regional Youth Organiser hopefuls in the Ashanti region Isaac Bonsu says leadership is supposed to be a calling and not a means to enriching one’s self.

He said the times when persons put in leadership positions to get rich overnight at the expense of the poor is long past.

“This is the basis why I believe vying to occupy any leadership position is an application for service. As indicated earlier, the modern day leadership style, is selfless, servant leadership”, he stated.

But speaking to some youth in the Nwabiagya South district over the weekend, IB, as he is popularly called, encouraged the youth to learn from the selfless leadership of former President John Agyekum Kufuor and President Nana Akufo Addo.

Quoting from the Holy Bible, IB said “a good leader is one who can bend and wash the feet of his followers just as Jesus Christ did to his disciples”.

He continued, “I do not see myself as someone who knows it all, and therefore rely on my followers as well for necessary advice especially, and support to enhance my success in every endeavor.

"...even though I am not all that old, I have learned from the few leadership roles I have held that, working hand in hand, carrying the load with the people and doing everything together is the surest way of attaining success”, he noted amid huge admiration from the youth.

IB who has fast gained admiration from members of Tertiary Student Confederacy of NPP (TESCON) in the region for his "selfless and prompt response in times of need” said companies he had managed in the past attained successful growth within a few years because he always loved to be on the field working together with the people and not lording over them.
