A former Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia North Constituency of the Ashanti Region Collins Owusu Amankwah has indicated that if he were given the chance as the political head of the Kumasi metropolis, his aim was to ensure massive development.

According to him, if he is given the nod to be Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) CEO, he will serve in the interest of Ghanaians.

“I’m ready to serve in the interest and cater for the well-being of the over 2.5 million residents, period,' he said, '’ I will listen to concerns of constituents, including chiefs, queen mothers, assembly members and other opinion leaders and stakeholders of the Kumasi Sub-Metro,’’ Collins Owusu Amankwah exclusively told Reynold Agyemang on ‘Pae Mu Ka’ on Accra-based Kingdom FM 107.7

He noted that Kumasi was lagging behind in terms of development, when compared to Accra where development is noticed on daily basis, and stressed the need to pool resources and make strenuous efforts and sacrifices to reverse the situation.

Collins Owusu Amankwah noted that most buildings in the city had no building permits and indicated the resolve of the Assembly to collect all outstanding property rates under a vigorous revenue mobilization exercise, with penalties for the intended rapid development of Kumasi.

Six people have filed for the position of KMA Chief Executive. The candidates include the incumbent mayor, Director of Urban roads Nana Atta Poku Agyemang, Samuel Pyne, Ashanti regional Secretary of NPP, Kennedy Kankam former Nhyeaso MP, Randy Collins Owusu Amankwa, former MP Manhyia North, Kwabena Mensah and outspoken for Kusi Boafo, former director of public sector reforms.
