Nigerian Premiere of International Award Winning Films at 4th Annual Eko International Film Festival

There are 137 films selected from film makers from 24 different countries participating in the 4th annual Eko International Film Festival from November 18-23, 2013, at the prestigious Silverbird Cinemas, Silverbird Galleria, 133, Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Eko International Film Festival, Nigeria's leading international film festival is also the most popular Nigerian film festival in the world, attracting accomplished prize winning filmmakers from host country Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, United States of America , UK, Spain, Netherlands, Italy, France, Germany, Hungary, Iran, Lebanon, India, Pakistan, Norway, Australia, Poland and other countries.

The 2013 edition has attracted more filmmakers with the Bollywood director of " Tara", Kumar Raj coming all the way from India to submit his blockbuster film to Eko International Film Festival and Sohan Roy, the director of "Dam 999" is coming for the Nigerian premiere of his multiple awards winning science fiction thriller.

Sohan Roy S K (born in Kerala, India in 1967) is a naval architect and businessman who is active in film direction and literature. He is the CEO of the Aries Group based in Middle East with subsidiaries in India and Singapore. He is the founder of Aries Marine, the flagship of the group, in 1998 and has developed it into an recognized ship design consultancy and survey firm.

Over the period of years Aries group has expanded with more than 28 establishments in Marine sector and Media & Entertainment. Sohan Roy is also an actor and a lyricist who earned Oscar selection for 3 soundtracks from his Debut Dam 999 in the year 2012.

Nigerian Premiere of Tula.
Starring: Danny Glover, Obi Abili, Jeroen Krabbé, Deobia Oparei and Derek de Lintis is based on the true life story of Tula (executed October 3, 1795) who was a slave on Curaçao and a leader of a 1795 slave revolt that convulsed the island for more than a month. He is revered on Curaçao today as a fighter for human rights and independence.

Nigerian Premiere of Oscar Nominee Dam 999
Dam 999 is a 2011 3-D science fiction disaster film. It is an English language UAE-Indian co-production film produced by BizTV Network, UAE and directed by Sohan Roy. The film is based on the award winning short documentary DAMs - The Lethal Water Bombs. and the Banqiao dam disaster of 1975 that claimed the lives of 250,000 people in China and anticipated calamity for outdated dams in the world. The film falls in the category of an emotional thriller. The ancient Indian concept of Navarasas, or the nine human emotions, are represented by an assortment of actors from India and Hollywood. The movie also portrays the concepts of Ayurveda as well as lost love against the backdrop of the story of a dilapidated colonial dam.

Apart from being a controversial movie in India[ with respect to its theme, the Screenplay of the movie was added to the permanent core collection in Library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences before its release in 2011

Three of the soundtracks "Dakkanaga Dugu", "DAM999 Theme song" and "Mujhe Chodke" were officially selected for 84th Academy Awards. The music was composed Ouseppachan and the lyrics were penned by Sohan Roy. DAM999 was nominated in race for Best Picture apart from being selected for best Original score also for 84th Academy Awards[

DAM999 was titled as the very first Indian movie to be selected for Golden Rooster Awards 2012, the national film award event conducted in Mainland China. The movie was officially suggested by renowned Israelian director Dan Wolman, who is the prominent Jury of a number of International festivals.Dam999 is selected to compete under 12 categories in Golden Rooster Awards which took place in Shaoxing City towards the end of September 2012.

Recently, DAM999 won Best Director and Best Feature Film award at the Cinerockom International Film Festival, Best International Feature Film, Special Jury Award, Best Movie of the Festival at International Film Festival for Environment, Health, and Culture 2013. It was declared Best English Film at Sangli Film Festival and adjudged as 'Judges Favorite' at International Film Festival – Antigua Barbuda where the Director, Sohan Roy was honored with 'Star Achievement Award for his contribution to the film industry'.

Apart from the above accolades, DAM999 was selected for screening various global film festivals such as Tehran Film Festival, Jaipur International Film Festival, Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival, Malaysia, Chain NYC Film Festival, USA, Louisville's International Festival of Film, USA and Trinity International Film Festival, USA, Laughlin International Film Festival, USA and 10th Annual Salento Film Festival, Italy.

Nigerian Premiere of Bollywood Blockbuster Tara.
Starring : Rekha Rana, Rohan Shroff and Sapna P Chuobisha and will be shown on Silverbird TV at the same time it is screening at the 4th Eko Film Festival.
