They made it seem I intentionally spotted the child with telescope and killed him — Lil Win decries media report of fatal accident

Popular Ghanaian actor Kwadwo Nkansah, also known as Lil Win, has denied deliberately killing a three-year-old boy in a fatal accident that occurred late last month.

Speaking to members of his church, the Believers Worship Centre, on July 1, Lil Win refuted claims that he was overspeeding which led to his vehicle colliding with another.

"I was sitting down and asked myself if it's my matter that is being discussed on TV as such...there are a lot of things about a car, it's a machine. It doesn't matter it's a brand new one. Everything can happen," Lil Win stated.

He said he remains saddened by the loss of life but maintains the crash was simply an accident that could happen to anyone.

The actor took issue with how the incident has been portrayed in the media.

“The media has reported the matter as if I deliberately knocked down the young boy with the car and intentionally collided the vehicle with my car," Lil Win said.

“They made it seem like I had a telescope, saw a child in the car, and decided to kill him,” he added.

As previously reported, the fatal crash occurred on May 25 in Kumasi just hours before the premiere of Lil Win's new movie "A Country Called Ghana."

He was arrested on June 3 after being discharged from the hospital and currently faces charges of negligent driving.

The Asokore Mampong District Court is expected to deliver a verdict on July 2.

Lil Win was granted bail of GH¢50,000 with two sureties.
