Ghanaian actor Big Akwes has issued a warning, threatening to expose musicians involved in romance scams if provoked.

He claims to know of prominent musicians who recruit their spouses for fraudulent activities to amass wealth.

Highlighting the prevalence of romance scams, Big Akwes noted that some Ghanaians, both domestically and abroad, collaborate with scammers to deceive foreigners through romantic relationships.

Speaking on UTV's United Showbiz, hosted by MzGee, he slammed those quick to criticize the recently sentenced socialite, Hajia4Real, for her involvement in such scams.

"People are quick to judge Hajia4Real's situation online. I know of musicians who involve their wives in similar activities. There are musicians in Ghana who use their wives to swindle foreigners. These aren't mere allegations; I am certain of these occurrences and will mention names if challenged.

"The truth will eventually surface when these women decide to speak out. Moreover, there are Ghanaians overseas engaging in such schemes. Some even lend their bank accounts to fraudsters for money laundering. It's only upon arrest that they realize the gravity of their actions," he expressed.

Hajia4Real was extradited to the United States from the United Kingdom for her alleged involvement in a $2 million romance scam, targeting older and single Americans in May 2023.

In February 2024, Hajia4Real pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to receive stolen money as part of the $2 million romance scam.

According to the United States Attorney's Office, the socialite admitted to her role in the conspiracy.

Court documents and reactions have surfaced regarding Hajia4Real's baby daddy's involvement in the scam.

Her lawyers submitted documents alleging that her ex-partner, Luvman Allison, used her accounts to receive funds from unknown sources.

Despite being on probation after a previous arrest in the US, Luvman allegedly engaged in fraudulent activities and deceived Hajia4Real into thinking they had a genuine relationship, exploiting her trust to involve her in his schemes.

According to the documents, despite realizing the wrongdoing, Hajia4Real continued due to fear for her safety and her daughter's.

She admitted knowing it was wrong but felt pressured to comply.
