The outspoken Member of Parliament for Assin North, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has at long last succumbed to pressure from the Chief Executive Officer of the Multi Media Group, Mr. Kwasi Twum, by retracting and apologizing to the latter, after insinuating that he deals in cocaine.

The MP, who recently engaged Alhaji Bature, the Editor of The Alhaj newspaper, over similar narcotic matters, asked the host of one of Asempah FM's programmes to ask his boss, Mr. Kwasi Twum, whether he knew a disabled man in the United States of America called Jones, and his relations with the said man. This was after the radio station had telephoned him to respond to cocaine allegations being made against him, by a panelist on the said programme.

Mr. Kwasi Twum interpreted Kennedy Agyapong's responses to mean that he dealt in narcotics and drug trafficking, and subsequently caused his lawyers to write to the Assin North MP to retract and apologise within 24 hours, or face his wrath in court.

The 24 hour ultimatum expired without any word from the Oman FM and Net Two TV owner, but yesterday he appeared on Adom FM, a Tema based radio station   to render an unqualified apology, as demanded by Mr. Kwasi Twum.

According to Kennedy Agyapong, he was 'pushed to the wall” in making the comments that suggested that Kwasi Twum had something to do with drug trafficking.

Kennedy Agyapong said he had a lot of respect and admiration for Kwasi Twum, due to how he carries himself and had expected him (Twum) to prevail upon Nana Kwabena Bobie Ansah, host of Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen and Kukurantumi programmes, to refrain from what he said were persistently more disparaging and libelous claims against him (Agyapong).

According to the Assin North MP, he has since his (offending) comments about a week ago, been inundated with calls for him to cease fire and that he was even ashamed of himself for his comments, particularly also for mentioning one Jones, whom he described as a “quiet guy”.

Ken Agyapong said among those asking him to reconcile his relation with Kwasi Twum is his own wife, Nancy, who he said has spoken well of the Multimedia CEO.

According to the MP, it is an in-law of his who has been arrested for drug offences, and wondered how that should translate into he being a drug baron.
