Gold Fields Ghana Limited has cautioned the public about a scam involving a firm using the name and corporate logo of the company to transact business on the Internet.

A statement issued by Gold Fields indicated that these criminals lured their unsuspecting victims with offers of gold dust and gold bars originating from their company in Ghana.

It described the situation as illegal and that the management of Gold Fields Ghana disassociated itself from it.

The statement further said Gold Fields Ghana, the headline sponsors of Ghana’s Black Stars and a subsidiary of Gold Fields Limited, headquartered in South Africa, was a responsible gold mining company with operations in Tarkwa and Damang, genuinely offering employment to hundreds of Ghanaians.

It explained that in the transaction and sale of its gold produce, Gold Fields Ghana dealt only with one end user and not a number of individual buyers.

“Gold Fields Ghana has no subsidiary or dealings with any company by the name of Gold Field Mineral Limited with the corporate logo of the Gold Fields Group.

“Anyone who receives a notification for the sale of gold dust or gold bars purported to be coming from Gold Fields Ghana Limited or the Gold Fields Group should disregard the said offers and report the incident to the police,” the statement advised.
