Bawumia commissions 31.2km road at Assin Praso

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on Friday, June 23, commissioned the 31.2km Assin Fosu-Assin Praso portion of the National Trunk Road N8 (Phase 2) at Assin Praso

According to the Vice President, the N8 is an important link for the transportation of freight and people from the Western and Central regions to Ashanti region and the northern parts of Ghana, as well as neighbouring landlocked countries.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Vice President stressed the importance of completing that section of the road, indicating that it will improve travel times for communities along the road, especially Assin Praso, Assin Breku, Assin Akonfode, Brofoyeduru, Assin Nyankomase, and Assin Fosu,

In addition to the rehabilitation of the Assin Praso-Assin Fosu Road, a 70m span steel bridge on Kushea-Hwidiem Feeder Road over River Pra has also been completed in the Central region.

“Rehabilitation of the 32km Mankessim – Abura Dunkwa Road is 80% complete. Furthermore, the upgrading of the 15km Assin Asempaneye-Kushea Road is 70% complete, with primer sealing ongoing,” Vice President Dr. Bawumia said.

Dr. Bawumia also indicated that the upgrading of Assin Breku Town Roads (5km) and the upgrading of Akonfodi town roads (2.5km) are both at a 50% completion.
