Why waste money on a wooden plaque? – Great Ampong blast colleagues 'dying' for awards

Great Ampong, Ghanaian gospel singer

Ghanaian gospel singer, Great Ampong has expressed his dissatisfaction with award schemes in the country.

He describes them as a waste of one's time and money.

The singer, whose real name is Isaiah Kwadwo Ampong, believes that many award schemes have now become 'pay-to-get.'

He asserted that the wooden plaques they offer as symbols of recognition are not worth the huge sums of money people pay for them.

Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Kingdom FM, Ampong stated that he sees no point in paying for a wooden plaque that has no real value or significance.

The renowned singer believes many of these award schemes have lost their credibility.

"There is no need to pay money for a wooden plaque. Ours are in the house, it doesn't feed us so there is no need to pay money for it," he said.

His comments come at a time when many Ghanaians are questioning the integrity of award schemes in the country.

Several artists have complained about the high fees charged to participate in these schemes, with some alleging that the winners are often pre-determined.
