Mankronso (Ash), June 18, GNA - A cross section of public at Mankranso in the Ahafo Ano South District, have appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), to order the immediate transfer of a policeman who exposed the identity of an informant. This is the outcome of a random sampling of views on the matter by the Ghana News Agency.
In May this year, a policeman stationed at Mankranso was alleged to have disclosed the identity of a person whose information led to the arrest of some illegal chain saw operators. During interrogation, the investigator was said to have exposed the informant to the suspects.
The informant alleged that the suspects, who were on bail later threatened to kill him and he reported the conduct of the policeman to Mr Anthony Kusi, District Chief Executive. The informant has appealed to the Police Administration for protection. The people urged the IGP to investigate the matter and transfer the policeman from the area as a matter of urgency to serve as a deterrent to other service personnel.
When the GNA contacted the DCE, he confirmed the story.
