President Mills hosts President Kufuor and two former African leaders

Accra, Nov. 3, GNA - President John Evans Atta Mills on Tuesday hosted former President John Agyekum Kufuor and two other former African leaders at the Castle, Osu.

They were President Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria and President Benjamin Mkapa of Tanzania.

The meeting was to exchange ideas on the ramifications of the world economic crisis on African countries and the options available to overcome the impact of the meltdown.

President Mills commended them for their achievements and willingness to continue to place their experiences at the disposal of the African population.

He said it was prudent that the formers leaders were eager to continue to lend their expertise to support the development agenda of the people, and assured them of his eagerness to collaborate with them on issues that would enhance the living standards of the people.

President Obasanjo on behalf of his colleagues, said their meeting in Ghana under the aegis of the Club of Madrid for former Heads of State, was to engage in vibrant discussions on an African perspective of the crisis and develop ideas for the development of a humane world.

He said the African leaders being joined in the discussions by Premier Percival James Patterson, former Prime of Minister of Jamaica, were also engaged in discussions on issues of climate change and globalisation.
