Kennedy Agyapong’s Allegation Against John Mahama Does Not Deserve Contempt

Kennedy Agyapongs Allegation Against John Mahama Does Not Deserve Contempt
22.09.2019 LISTEN

I am not here just referring to report that Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the Assin-Central’s New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP), has alleged that the brutally slain NPP-MP for Akyem-Abuakwa-North, Mr. Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu, must have been so savagely stabbed to death in his own bedroom because the slain man had in his possession the stark-naked photographs of then-President John Dramani Mahama (See “Mahama Lashes Out at Ken Agyapong” 3News.com / Ghanaweb.com 9/21/19). Of course, the relevant law-enforcement authorities, including the Attorney-General and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the CID Chief may want to seriously examine Mr. Agyapong’s allegation involving the possible murder-for-hire allegation leveled against the former President by the owner of the Oman media network, among a legion of other business enterprises.

What I am first and foremost concerned with in this column is another equally depraved and more “significant” mysterious death at the Osu Castle, the former national seat of governance, involving then-President John Evans Atta-Mills. And here, we must, once again, highlight the rather bizarre fact that then-Vice-President John Dramani Mahama literally danced over the dead body of his then-immediate boss, by promptly taking to the airwaves and euphorically celebrating the fact of what the former National Democratic Congress’ Member of Gonja-West, in the present-day Akufo-Addo-created Savannah Region, then pontifically characterized as a glorious act of Divine Providence who, in His “inscrutable wisdom,” had deigned to crown Mr. Mahama as the first post-independence-born Ghanaian leader. Absolutely not a single word, let alone a sentence, was uttered by then-Vice-President Mahama to explain to the general Ghanaian public the precise circumstances under which the then-President John Evans Atta-Mills met his death.

One would long have expected that the now-Candidate John Dramani Mahama would have strongly come public as he has now, finally, decided to do with Mr. Agyapong’s allegation that the then-President John Dramani Mahama may very likely or very well have had a hand in the brutal slaying of the extant Akyem-Abuakwa-North’s New Patriotic Party’s Member of Parliament. In other words, I am hereby questioning why the then-Vice-President Mahama never addressed the clearly murky circumstances surrounding the death of the man who had, against the vehement protestations of former President Jerry John Rawlings and his wife and Ghana’s longest-reigning First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, selected the then recently retired politician as his presidential running-mate in the leadup to the 2008 general election.

As I vividly recall back then, Mrs. Rawlings had frenetically hopped from one radio and/or television station to another vehemently protesting the selection of the former Rawlings’ Communications Minister as a man who could not be trusted. In retrospect, and with what we so far know about the set of circumstances surrounding the death of President Atta-Mills, we can only affirm the prophetic prognosis of the damn bloody “revolutionary” couple. We shall fully address the clearly deliberately botched police investigations into the brutal stabbing death of MP JB Danquah-Adu, shortly, in another column.
