The 2009 Annual Harvest/Thanksgiving Service of Israel South Presbyterian Church comes up on Sunday, 8th November at the Church premises, behind Israel Football field.
The event which starts at 9.30am has the theme: “The Lord Loves a Cheerful Giver”. It will be under the joint Chairmanship of Osabarima Ameyaw II, Pomaasehene/Chief of Abomoso, Dr. Benjamin Kwame Botwe, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Food and Drugs Board/ Senior Presbyter of New Jerusalem Congregation of the Presby Church at Weija and Mr. Mike Ofori, Managing Director of Ofori Terrazzo Company.
The proceeds of the Harvest will go into the construction of a three classroom block for the Church. The Church is embarking on this project to help give a sound and moral education, reminiscent of the old Presbyterian discipline to a large number of prospective pupils in the area.
Speaking to Mr. Daniel Danquah Damptey, Chairman of the Harvest Committee and a member of the Interim Management Committee of the Church left me in no doubt that the Church is irrevocably committed to the ideal of establishing a school of excellence whose moral principle is rooted in having respect and faith in God and the nation. “There is no going back on this school project. God willing, and all things being well, the Church will offer good, qualitative, and affordable sound education to pupils in and around Tabora, Alhaji, Israel, Lominava, Omanjor and its environs. This will bring smiles to the faces of parents who have been yearning for the establishment of such a reputable educational institution in the area” Mr. Damptey said.
Catechist George Yirenkyi also corroborated what Mr. Damptey said. He went on to add that the Church is in its tenth year and that it will be inaugurated sometime next year (2010). At the moment, it is a Preaching Point of Achimota Presbyterian Church (Gethsemane Congregation)
Other members of the Harvest Committee are Golda Ofosu-Barko, Agnes Agbeshie, Lavinnia Agbobli, Michael Dankyi and Joseph Adjei.
The officiating Ministers for the occasion are Reverend Michael Anim Tettey of Grace Congregation of the Presby Church at New Aplaku and Reverend Kwabena Kodua. The Guest Preacher is Catechist Charles Lawson of Abossey Okai Presbyterian Church.
The New Fadama Presbyterian Church Brass Band will be in attendance.
The Harvest Committee cordially extends an open invitation to committed Christians to troop to Israel South on a pilgrimage, come this Sunday, 8th November, 2009.The Committee assures all of such people that they will not be disappointed for their lives will not remain the same after the event..
Above all, please donate to a just cause, for the Good Lord loves a cheerful giver.
