Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A) Oct. 2 GNA – Barely two weeks after being crowned a beauty queen at Dormaa-Ahenkro, 22 year old Ms Evelyn Ellen Nyarko, has lost her life.
The beauty contest was organised as part of Brong-Ahafo's 50th anniversary celebration.
Evelyn, a salesgirl at a local shell filling station shop, died shortly on admission at the Presbyterian Hospital at Dormaa-Ahenkro.
A family source told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the late Beauty Queen had complained of bodily pains and dizziness.
The source expressed shock at her sudden death saying: “We took her sickness to be one of those fevers usually associated with malaria”.
The family were still trying to fathom the cause of her death.
Nyarko won on the cards of all the five judges in a pageant, which was well patronised by the townsfolk including Mr Vincent Oppong Asamoah, Dormaa Municipal Chief Executive.
She won the contest on the basis of elegance, eloquence and for being well-versed in the Akan culture particularly, the 'Bono' way of life.
