Brigadier-General (Retd) Dr. Daniel Ampadu Twum, the late commanding officer of the 37 Military Hospital was on Friday interred at the Military Cemetery in Accra with full military honours.

An eleven gun salute greeted the fallen soldier, 68, who passed on August… 2009.

Among mourners were the Chief of Staff, Mr. Henry Martey Newman; Minister of Defence, Lt. Gen. Joseph Henry Smith; Chief of the Defence Staff, Maj. Gen. Peter Augustine Blay; Chief of the Army Staff, Maj. Gen. Joseph Narh Adinkrah, Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral M. Quarshie and the Commanding Officer of the 37 Military Hospital, Col. Joseph Mensah Ayettey.

Former Minister's of Defence, Philip Addo Kufuor and Alhaji Iddrisu Mahama were also among the large crowd of family, friends and former work colleagues who joined in the final funeral rites at the Garrison Methodist/Presbyterian Church, Burma Camp.

After the funeral rites, the casket containing his remains, draped in the national colours, was mounted for a procession from the church grounds to the Congo Junction, Burma Camp, and then driven through the El Wak Stadium road, 37 Military Hospital, the Golden Jubilee House and the Liberation Circle before ending at the Military Cemetery.

In various tributes, Brigadier-General (Retd) Daniel Ampadu Twum was described variously as a true soldier, a patriot, a loving father, an efficient physician and industrious businessman.

Wreaths were laid on behalf of the President and People of Ghana, the Chief of Defence Staff and the Military, the 37 Military Hospital Command and Staff, as well as the Twum Family.
