NEW: Ghana Tourist Villas offers an unforgettable holiday and business experience in Accra.
The Northern Regional police have arrested two Nigerian women who are alleged to be engaged in the trafficking of some Nigerian girls for prostitution in Ghana.

The two, who gave their names as Ntiamoh, 45, and Nkuro, 32, were arrested in their hideout in Tamale last Tuesday upon a tip-off.

This comes just about two weeks after a circuit court in Accra had sentenced three Chinese nationals to a total of 39 years’ imprisonment for engaging in the trafficking of their nationals for prostitution in Ghana.

Briefing the press, the Northern Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Angwubutoge Awuni, said the two were picked up from a hotel (name withheld), in which they were operating after an informant had given them the hint.

He said during the arrest, the suspects were found in possession of some contraceptives and sexual stimulants, which the police suspected were being used for their nefarious activities.

In an interview, the suspects denied they were engaged in human trafficking and blamed the police for defaming them.

They refused to be photographed by the press and kept insisting they were innocent.

Meanwhile, the two Nigerian girls, who claimed they were brought to Ghana to work for the suspects, told the police that the women had on several occasions made them to sleep with some clients, while they collected the fees.

They also said that the two suspects had refused to pay what was due them and because of this, they were unable to go back to Nigeria.
