NEW: Ghana Tourist Villas offers an unforgettable holiday and business experience in Accra.
Ho, July 2, GNA - Mr Kodzo Adegah, a retired civil servant, has expressed regret at the unimaginative human resource traditions in the civil and some public services that makes ex-staff look back at their time with them with bitterness.
He said the trend was for a retiring officer in those services to go home unsung, unrecognized and laden with a gift, perhaps, of laboring to process his retirement benefits.
Mr Adegah said at a luncheon to mark “Senior Citizens Day”, on Wednesday, Republic Day, in Ho, attended by a cross section of the elderly.
He said while certain employers celebrated the exit of their employees with gratitude, leaving them with cherished memories of their period of work, “civil and public services virtually dump you.”
Mr Adegah said if there were jobs, past civil servants would bar their children from venturing into a career with the civil service and some of the public services.
Mr Joseph Amenowode, Volta Regional Minister, said in a speech read for him that no one should mistake the government's resolve to punish corruption to be witch hunting.
He said the projected first class road to link southern Ghana to the northern parts through the Volta Region was on course.
The Minister urged the “Senior Citizens” to help counsel the youth to be of good service to the nation.
