“Our call on Mr Ransford Antwi to contest in the parliamentary race of the Sunyani East constituency is centred purely on the social-cultural and economic development of the people of the constituency and beyond. Our call has been necessitated by the incessant call of the people of the constituency on him to come out to contest for the seat”, the two groups said at a news conference in Sunyani on Monday.

According to the two youth groups, several people in the Sunyani East constituency have been petitioning them to add their voices to the call on Mr. Ransford Antwi to make up his mind to contest the seat to enable the constituents vote massively for him to lead Sunyani East.

They believe that when voted as the MP for Sunyani East, Mr. Ransford Antwi would “introduce something unique and monumental in the development of the constituency and position the city as the Bono Regional capital.”

Research findings

“Sunyani Youth Development Association over the past six (6) months undertook an initiative to sample 2,100 people across various places within the Sunyani East constituency. The findings that came up was amazing as 1,692 of the numbers sampled who represent 80.5% of the total number desired change within the Sunyani East Constituency”, he told the media.

SUNYANI YOUTH DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION (SYDA) AND SUNYANI FOR DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION (SFDA) CALL ON MR RANSFORD ANTWI TO CONTEST FOR THE SUNYANI EAST CONSTITUENCY PARLIAMENTARY SEAT

SUNYANI, Date 22nd April, 2024 – Sunyani Youth Development Association (SYDA) and Sunyani for Development Association (SFDA) issue this press statement of a call on Mr Ransford Antwi to contest in the Sunyani East Constituency Parliamentary race as an INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE.

The above-named organizations, SYDA and SFDA are development centred organizations that promote and seek the development of the entirety of Sunyani, its environs and the Bono Region at large. The two organizations have jointly contributed towards youth development and the social economic development of the people of the Sunyani East constituency and the entirety of the Bono Region.

Our call on Mr Ransford Antwi to contest in the parliamentary race of the Sunyani East constituency is centred purely on the social-cultural and economic development of the people of the constituency and beyond. Our call has been necessitated by the incessant call of the people of the constituency on him to come out to contest for the seat.

As development concerned organizations, countless people of the Sunyani East constituency have been breaking our ears to add our voices to the call to implore him to make his mind to contest the seat to enable the constituents vote massively for him to lead Sunyani East in the next four (4) years to introduce something unique and monumental in the development of the constituency and position the city as the Bono Regional capital.

WHY WE IMPLORE MR RANSFORD ANTWI TO CONTEST

Mr. Ransford Antwi has proven beyond all reasonable doubt that he is a true agent of development for the Bono people, particularly the Sunyani East constituency and beyond. His contribution in health care delivery, sports development, education, job creation, media development, youth development among others tells it all. He has been so instrumental and dedicated himself towards the advancement of the people.

He has high taste for quality and does not settle for mediocrity except the best. He steps in when there seems to be no hope and immediately restores hope.

He has also proven that he could liaise with others to bring development to the people of Sunyani East Constituency and the Bono Region at large. This is the reason why he is the representative of the Council of Bono and Ahafo Associations of North America (COBAANA) in the Bono Region.

He has through his personal initiatives connected his friends, family and loved ones to undertake several projects within Sunyani East Constituency. Our clarion calls on him to contest in the upcoming parliamentary elections could not have come at any better time than this. At a time that change has become the ultimate desire by all meaningful personalities within the Sunyani East Constituency which is evidently clear.

Sunyani Youth Development Association over the past six (6) months undertook an initiative to sample 2,100 people across various places within the Sunyani East constituency. The findings that came up was amazing as 1,692 of the numbers sampled who represent 80.5% of the total number desired change within the Sunyani East Constituency.

MAY WE TAKE YOU THROUGH SOME OF THE FEW THINGS HE HAS DONE FOR THE CONSTITUENCY AND BEYOND

Undertaken several free surgeries for the general public with his friends and partners

Led in a medical outreach to offer free eye surgeries at Kwatire in the Sunyani West Municipality.

Specifically undertook free surgeries for 50 people in celebration of his 50th birthday anniversary at Sunyani, which benefitted several people including two people who came from as far as Kumasi.

Partnered Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Breast Care Unit to conduct breast screening for hundreds of women within Sunyani and the Bono Region.

Raised funds on two occasions to support Bofoakwa Tano to get them back to the Premier League.

Led the people of Sunyani and football loving people to construct a standard Dressing Room for the Sunyani Coronation Park (Dubbed the People’s Project)

Led in rehabilitation of the pitch at the Sunyani Coronation Park which SYDA actively took part.

Decorated the newly built dressing room of the Sunyani Coronation Park with pictures of old footballers

Installed CCTV cameras at the Sunyani Coronation Park to curtail hooliganism.

Has taken on himself to bring his friends together to support Retired Footballers

Sponsored some retired footballers to pursue coaching courses

Constructed substitute and match officials’ benches at the Sunyani Coronation Park

Sponsored several people to further their studies

Organized blood donations exercises in collaboration with MTN to mobilize hundreds of pints of blood to support patients requiring blood transfusion therapy at the Sunyani Regional Hospital.

Rehabilitation and painting of Barhamiya Islamic Basic School at Penkwase.

Played mercurial role in bringing Coach Ratomir Djukovic to coach the Ghana Black Stars who subsequently qualified Ghana to its first World Cup.

As if that was not enough, he was instrumental in Ghana’s quest to secure its first kit sponsorship with German kit manufacturers, Puma, as recently proclaimed by former GFA President, Kwasi Nyantakyi

Introduced Sunyani Youth Development Association to the Australian High Commission through which the commission sponsored us to expand their youth skill training

  1. Single handedly built a tunnel for the Sunyani Coronation Park

His passion for development is the reason why he led in the organization of Sunyani and Bono Deserve Better Demonstration. Lamentation is not enough especially when you have the opportunity to do something about it as a leader. For this reason, we are imploring him to accept to contest for the Sunyani East Constituency Parliamentary seat.

In all of this, he has used his personal capacity, resources and through his ability to connect his friends to achieve the above. Therefore, we are of the conviction that if given the opportunity to be the Member of Parliament, he would have stronger muscles and access to do much more to serve the interest of the people of Sunyani East.

It is sad that a project he conceived to build a health and social center for old men and women within Sunyani which he sought to replicate in places like Abesim, Yawhima and Atronie and their environs could not materialize because he could not get the needed documentary support from the Sunyani Municipal Assembly.

We believe that if he is the Member of Parliament for the constituency, he can easily have the needed support to impact his people. We are much more optimistic that he has the potential to go beyond the Member of Parliament in the nearest future and the time to take off is now.

We are not at the moment going to share much of what he has done but want to use this occasion to implore him to ACCEPT THE CLARION CALL of the good people of Sunyani East Constituency to contest the upcoming parliamentary elections as INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE.

As we bring this statement to a closure, we herein beseech the good people of Sunyani East Constituency to support him if he accepts our clarion call on him.

After his acceptance, we together with him and other stakeholders would come out with a policy statement.

May God bless Mr. Ransford Antwi, the good people of Bono Region and the good people of the Sunyani East Constituency. `

Thank you.
